Multi-Carrier Networks - One Point of Management: The Hybrid VNO approach
Reliance Globalcom's consultative Hybrid VNO approach provides our Enterprise customers with independent expertise to create the optimum solution for their business needs. Through selection of the most appropriate access service and technology, in every region and for each location type, integrated seamlessly into our global high performance backbone, Reliance Globalcom enable our customers to become industry leaders by guaranteeing business outcomes.
Nearly all multinational enterprises struggle to find one supplier able to reach all of their global operating locations with exactly the right connectivity to meet their individual capacity and service requirements. This inevitably leads to managing multiple vendors, paying stiff premiums on bandwidth, or compromising on the overall network design.
With 20 years of experience focused on supplier management, and with over 700 certified access suppliers, Reliance Globalcom specializes in the integration and management of the end-to-end network, regardless of the underlying carriers involved.
This Hybrid VNO model, pioneered by Reliance Globalcom, incorporates the objectivity required to provide the network solution which most closely fits each clients' requirements. Reliance Globalcom has the freedom to source infrastructure from the most suitable telecommunications carriers or service providers on a global basis, seamlessly integrating these services into the Reliance Globalcom core infrastructure to provide enterprise clients with cost-effective, optimized and fully managed network solutions.
With the Hybrid VNO approach:
- Use a single partner that can reach 230 countries and territories in the world
- Achieve the optimum network solution, aligned to your business requirements, without compromise
- Rapidly access new technologies through an objective, consultative partner
- Adjust and modify the technological solution cost effectively, according to changing business requirements
- Access cost savings from falling bandwidth prices throughout the contract
- Benefit from award winning, globally consistent service levels, managed through a fully transparent, single point of network management wherever you need to operate in the world.
AAN - Application Aware Networking
Reliance Globalcom's Application Aware Networking (AAN) allows critical applications to operate in parallel, regardless of the network utilisation level. AAN empowers enterprise customers to increase productivity, by providing the flexibility of application prioritisation decision making to be made and controlled by the business.
Server consolidation programs and the need to drive down network costs make Application Aware Networking services very attractive to Enterprise IT decision makers. The ability of WAN optimization boxes to remove protocol inefficiencies that cause poor performance across the WAN drive down total cost of network ownership, and increase business scalability making AAN services very attractive. They serve to address network and transport layer inefficiencies, such as TCP, but also inspect and alter the application protocol behaviour, such as MAPI for email and CIFS for Windows file sharing.
The savings seen by removing (potentially hundreds of) servers from remote sites (i.e. purchase, maintenance, update, and support costs) is proving a compelling business case for enterprises.
There are multiple benefits of Reliance Globalcom's AAN Suite

Active Back-Up
Reliance Globalcom offer an 'always on' back-up circuit capability that can be utilized to off load 'less critical' traffic from the primary circuit, thereby offering higher service levels to critical traffic. Our Hybrid VNO approach means that dual carrier or technology redundancy can be utilized to increase the security and reliability of networks while increasing overall network availability.
With the pressures on networking budgets globally driving a trend towards centralization of key business applications and services, combined with increasing demands for more high-bandwidth, IP enabled communication tools and processes means that traditional ISDN back-up configurations are becoming obsolete. In addition as application sharing creates greater pressure of the global WANs of major international businesses, the value of being able to utilize back-up connectivity simultaneously alongside primary connections is becoming clear.
The Reliance Globalcom Active back-up capability enables the following benefits to be enjoyed by our customers:
- Load sharing of data across two 'always on' connections
- 'Less critical' traffic can be preferentially routed over the secondary line
- Key application performance is improved
- Overall network availability increased
- Comparable or lower overall implementation costs to less viable ISDN back-up
- Increased resiliency through dual carrier or technology redundancy

Reliance Globalcom Rapid Deployment Service (RDS)
Reliance Globalcom's Rapid Deployment Service is a product of the company's customer centric service provisioning approach, developed in recognition of the fact that enterprise businesses often have periods of rapid and dynamic expansion during which time a site implementation time of weeks rather than days will have a significant operational and profit impact for our customers. For certain verticals, such as construction, and retail the setting up of new locations is expected to be 'business as usual', but this does not make the procurement and delivery of telecoms services any easier.
Reliance Globalcom developed RDS to address these challenges, utilising quick to deploy technologies, such as 3G, HSDPA, and wireless broadband, Satellite and WiMAX based technologies, to achieve rapid deployment of network connectivity for new locations, seamlessly integrated into the wider corporate VPN
Customers have portable sets of equipment kept on standby and can achieve connectivity in less than 24 hours (including shipping times). Reliance Globalcom’s hardware solution incorporates wireless services from carriers in a single device, meaning carrier coverage inconsistencies or gaps can be mitigated and customers are able to implement resilient, carrier diverse solutions. Also automatic detection of available carrier technologies, selecting from highest bandwidth services down to lowest (HSDPA through to 3G and GPRS) depending on availability ensures highest possible service quality levels.
Once the permanent circuit is deployed to site, the RDS circuit can either be configured as a secondary back up service or be decommissioned.
A number of clients hold a small number of RDS solutions in standby as a cost effective Disaster Recovery service for the entire network.
Full coverage of wireless infrastructure with 24 hour solution support is a unique offering in the marketplace. Reliance Globalcom’s Hybrid VNO operation model also enables new carrier wireless offering to be included as soon as they appear in the marketplace ensuring customers receive all latest technology and cost savings.

Value-Added Options
Reliance Globalcom solutions offer dynamic controls such as OnDemand bandwidth, Class of Service (CoS) and HawkEye to better manage network resources and improve agility.
OnDemand:
Reliance Globalcom provides customers unmatched levels of control and scalability with its OnDemand bandwidth provisioning feature. With OnDemand, network managers can optimize network resources by immediately scaling bandwidth up or down to support any number of events requiring additional bandwidth. To activate the changes, network managers visit the YipesCARE web portal and select the network service to which they wish to make the change. After entering the desired number of megabits per second, they simply click “Accept” and requested changes to provisioned bandwidth occur almost instantaneously. Bandwidth changes can be requested in as small as 1 Mbps increments, and customers pay only for the bandwidth requested. Charges occur at a pre-agreed per Mbps rate with no additional setup fees.
Class of Service (CoS):
Reliance Globalcom offers Class of Service (CoS) that allows enterprise network managers to prioritize multiple competing traffic classes to protect or ensure high service levels for performance-sensitive application traffic. The CoS feature accomplishes this by allowing network managers to assign traffic for each application to one of four classes: Real-time, Critical, Priority and Standard. In a standard implementation these might correspond to the following enterprise applications in order: voice, video, hosted applications and email. Some frequent applications of Class of Service are as follows:
- To prevent choppy VoIP or IPVideo
- To increase the efficiency of provisioned bandwidth
- To improve the performance of a global enterprise network deployment
- To eliminate the need for more complex internal network deployments
CoS is available with Managed Metro Ethernet, Managed WAN Ethernet and Managed WAN VPLS services. All of these are provisioned over Reliance Globalcom’s global VPLSbased best-of-breed network designed to provide the reliability, security and ease of use of Ethernet with the scalability, multipoint-to-multipoint support and resiliency features of MPLS.
HawkEye:
Reliance Globalcom's HawkEye is an innovative, global network performance measurement system that provides realtime performance data on:
- Route-specific latency - Latency is the delay in packet transmission across a network. Reliance Globalcom provides route-specific latency performance data within and between each of the metro areas it serves rather than network-wide averages.
- Network jitter - Jitter is the variation of latency and refers to the recurring changes in the timing of a data stream that can degrade voice connections, make video appear jerky and significantly impact other key network applications. Controlling jitter has become increasingly important as more enterprises move to time-sensitive applications such as multiple-feed video conferencing and VoIP telephony.
- Packet delivery - Packet delivery is the percentage of data packets successfully delivered and is the leading barometer in determining the consistency and reliability of any network.
The HawkEye system transmits and receives hundreds of thousands of UDP packets per minute in order to monitor performance between and within all of the major domestic and international metropolitan areas in which Reliance Globalcom operates. The measurement data provided by HawkEye is made available to all Reliance Globalcom customers in real-time via the YipesCARE web portal where customers can view custom graphs showing key performance metrics, sampled in 1-minute intervals. YipesCARE also provides customer network utilization statistics. HawkEye is the first system of its kind to measure performance across a multi-vendor, global Carrier Ethernet network. HawkEye also supports Reliance Globalcom's industry leading Service Level Agreements. |
